7.4 GHG emissions inventory
District of Squamish
• Noted Greenhouse Gas Reductions creating a warmer trend, but it’s important not to lose sight of air pollution, need to consider adapting to the warmer trend
• Many communities challenged with the provincial database
• Squamish requested more GHG data from ICBC
Islands Trust
• Working with My Sea to Sky to test climate action report card tool
Bowen Island
• working on a community energy and emissions plan update for Bowen Island. Rely on provincial data for land use, which is from 2010 where they only consider permanent change.
• Transportation data from 2012 with data based on a lot of assumptions. ICBC asking for odometer readings.
• Some data from 2017 which is great (i.e land use waste emissions data, building consumption).
• The plan is currently built on imperfect data; don't have the staffing capacity or expertise to refine the old provincial data.
Town of Gibsons
• Plans to reduce and track GHG emissions for municipal infrastructure. Reducing and tracking GHG for the municipality itself is more difficult.
• Signed 4 years partnership with the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre to collect data in the harbour (data collection, surveying, etc)
